Positive thoughts that kick start a day, impact overall happiness, and health, and enhance productivity. The Bhagavad Gita describes: “For him who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends; but for one who has failed to do so, his mind will remain the greatest enemy.”
Spend about 10 minutes before you jumpstart your morning on creating an intention for the day, meditate, and do small yoga stretches to create the flow for the morning before you check the phone or see what is happening in social media.
While you are still in bed, do small twists to relieve anxiety and relieve tension from the spine. Lie on your back and stretch your arms out wide. Bring your knees up to your chest and twist from side to side. Transitioning into the happy baby pose will relieve any stiffness left overnight. Do these poses for a minute or so, and lying flat on your back, lift your knees toward your face with your lower legs and feet pointed upward at 90 degrees; grab the edges of your feet and feel the stretch. If you are unable to grab the feet, grab claves or what your body is calling for that morning. It is important to keep your head down during the entire movement and your spine flat. Hold it for a minute or two and move to the child’s pose and relax completely and don’t forget to breathe. Listen to the body and take it to the level it’s calling for.
Next, do some cat and cow, bringing mobility and lengthening the spine. After that, sit in a comfortable seated position, and do some side body stretch. Lastly, close your eyes, and meditate for a few minutes. This creates a positive mindset, all the muscles and organs are now woken up and ready to tackle the day.
After nourishing the soul, time to nourish your body with a wholesome breakfast that will boost brain and body health.
Keep morning practice consistent, and change the stretches that you do every day to bring variety and what is calling for. Soon you will notice, that your decisions will be guided by your intellect and not by your mind and you are all set to succeed every day and tackle all challenges that come your way.
