आहारशुद्धौ सत्वशुद्धिः सत्वशुद्धौ ध्रुवा स्मृतिः।

āhāraśuddhau satvaśuddhiḥ satvaśuddhau dhruvā smṛtiḥ।
smṛtilābhe sarvagraṃthīnāṃ vipramokṣaḥ॥

Aahara-shuddhau satva-shuddhih satva-shuddhau dhruva smritih
Smriti-labhe sarva-granthinam vipra-mokshah

Translation: “Through the purification of diet comes the purification of the mind; with a pure mind, there is steadfastness in remembering (knowledge). With the attainment of knowledge, all ties (to ignorance) are severed.”

Translation: “In the body, when there is equilibrium among the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), the digestive fire (Agni), the bodily tissues (dhatus), the metabolic waste products (malas), a person is said to be in good health, and it reflects in a serene state of mind, senses, and spirit.”

  • Philosophy: Ayurveda focuses on identifying and treating the root causes of illness to restore balance among the doshas within the body.
  • Treatment Methods: Utilises herbs, minerals, metals, and surgical procedures to address imbalances and promote health.
